Learn how to crochet a basic granny square, how to change colors, and weave in your ends. See examples of what can be done with granny squares and how different hook sizes and yarn weights change your square.

In this class, you will learn how to make quilt blocks using techniques that emphasize improvisation, ease, and joy. You will leave class with one quilt block ready to be add to piece of clothing, as the start of a larger quilt, or to use in another project like a pillowcase or tote bag.

Join local print artist Ayemurs for a fun printmaking workshop using LEGO tiles to create printing plates! Learn this approachable form of relief printmaking, suitable for all ages and skill levels.

Learn the basics of how watercolor paints work through a series of paint sketching exercises! Begin to find your own painting style through experimentation as we collectively get to know watercolor as a medium. This class is designed for beginners - no watercolor or painting experience required. 

Join Pamela Heater and other painters to work on your personal painting projects during this free, open painting studio time! Bring work to complete or start new work. Pamela will be there to join you in painting and provide guidance and advice as requested. In addition, there will be a painting prompt and/or activity to stir your creative juices.

In this class we will each create a mixed media assemblage artwork. Participants will learn to use a wide variety of different materials in creative ways. All participants will leave with a piece of art. All materials provided, but feel free to bring any extra materials you might want to use. Ages 10 and up. Join us for some super creative hands-on making in our new monthly journal making group at OffCenter with artist and teacher, Michelle Holdt! Build or "Hack" your own creative book! We begin by collecting fun paper and punching holes in it and tying it with a ribbon or “hack” an existing blank journal by collaging, stamping, and painting into it. Then learn a few simple sketching and poetry exercises to start to put “yourself into your book!”

Join printmaker Nino Ricca Lucci for a fun introduction to monoprinting! Learn a quick and easy method for printmaking with an etching press! Prints can be made in as little as five minutes, and every print is unique.

In this generative writing workshop will look at (and create!) very short poems and then use editing prompts to practice playful revision. Writing short (and editing fast) can be a great way to jumpstart your writing practice. Whether you consider yourself a poet or not, this writing workshop is a chance to dive into some poetry! 

Join Dre for a fun single-session printmaking workshop to learn about block printing with erasers! We'll be using erasers and carving tools to create designs to print on paper.

Join sewist Alden Sobol as they guide you through the process of making your very own reversible tote bag! Sewing machines and all materials will be provided. This queer-led class is perfect if you have some experience using a sewing and are looking to improve your skill or confidence level.

Turn junk mail into a fun and functional journal in this workshop! Using junk mail of all kinds, we will create a journal using the ring binding method. Use paint and collage to embellish the journals and create a palette for you to add your own art.

Join OffCenter Printmaking Shop Manager Dre to learn this French-style stencil printing method! We will create stencils with vellum paper, apply ink, and run them through the press to create original prints. No experience required.

In this beginning class, you will learn the basics of how to cast on, and how to knit and purl. No previous knitting experience required! You'll get started on a knitted dishcloth and will leave with the pattern and instructions for how to finish it.

Join OffCenter studio manager and mixed media artist Ashley to create funky mixed media jewelry! In this class participants will combine different materials to make a wearable piece of art. Participants can create one or more pieces of jewelry. Some materials that will be used are metal components, papers, resin, beads, over baked clay, found objects, and more!

This workshop will cover the basics of hand embroidery, including planning and preparing a project, several basic stitches, and finishing either a hoop for display or an embroidery piece on an item of clothing. Participants will sketch or trace a simple design of their choice (we will also have a few ready to go for those who prefer more structure), stitch an outline, stitch the fill, and add simple embellishments.
