How to be part of this year’s Little House Auction:
You’re invited to be a Little House Artist!
Don’t want to create a house? Skip ahead to Step 3!
Stop by OffCenter during regular studio hours in March, or for ABQ Artwalk on Friday, March 6, 5-8 pm, to sign up and pick out your wooden house blank! Or sign up online here.
Little Houses can be made of any (non-perishable) material — use our wooden blanks or build your own using metal, ceramic, fabric, or paper. You might create a Little House necklace, a mug, birdhouse, or even an art book! As long as it fits the requirements + is inspired by the theme of Little Houses… your artwork is welcome!
Step 1: Create a Little House
Bring your finished house to FUSION on Monday, April 27 between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Please do not bring your finished house to OffCenter. Reach out with questions! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
Step 2: Artwork Drop-off
The Little House Auction includes over 150 Little Houses — PLUS an accompanying exhibition of large scale 2D artwork by local artists. Preview the exhibition and a sample of some of the houses on Friday, May 8 during ABQ Artwalk.
We are unable to display all of the houses until the auction on May 15, due to space restrictions and requirements of other FUSION events. The May 8 preview will feature many, but not all of the Little Houses.
Enjoy a preview of all the houses online right here May 8-15.
Step 3: Preview the Exhibition
Join us for the main event on Friday, May 15!
The Little House Auction is a free, festive celebration of the imaginative power of artists! With music, food trucks, and 150+ amazing original Little House artworks, the silent auction is your chance to support OffCenter Arts important work —- and win a gorgeous mini masterpiece or two while you’re at it!
Step 4: Bid at the Auction!
OffCenter Arts
Little House Auction
Every year, dozens of artists create fantastic mini masterpieces for OffCenter Arts to auction at our annual Little House Auction!
The auction highlights the diverse creativity of Albuquerque’s many artists and raises important funds for OffCenter’s free programs.
The premise is wonderfully simple: artists are invited to build a tiny house on a base measuring no larger than 6 by 6 inches. The resulting creations, however, are wildly diverse. Using wood, ceramic, fabric, paper, metal, and boundless imagination, participants transform these tiny footprints into everything from miniature tabletop mansions, clay abodes, and tiny birdhouses to petite paintings and wearable "Little House" jewelry.
While the artworks are small, the spirit of generosity behind them is huge. Every dollar raised through winning bids directly funds OffCenter's mission to provide a free, safe, and welcoming environment for art-making and social connection. These proceeds ensure that hundreds of artists of all ages have access to free art supplies, studio space, and classes throughout the year.
