Historical Bookbinding: Coptic Stitch
The Historical Bookbinding Workshop series will teach three historical styles of bookbinding: Coptic, Ethiopian, and Byzantine.
In this first class in the series, students will learn how to make a blank notebook with a Coptic stitch binding. This class is very beginner friendly, and it is recommended to take this Coptic stitch class (or have previous Coptic stitch experience) before taking the next two classes in the series.
Class 2 will be Byzantine bindings, Class 3 will be Ethiopian bindings. Not necessary to take all 3 classes in the series. Classes 2 and 3 will benefit from prior experience with Coptic bookbinding (which they will get in class 1), but it's not absolutely required. Participants must be able to hold & manipulate a needle.
