About the teacher: River Rising, also known as River Katz, is a trans cartoonist, zinester, and writer whose work explores queer narratives, mental health, and healing through story.

They have a BFA majoring in Sequential Narrative, and they are currently pursuing their Master's in Creative Nonfiction with a certificate in Narrative Medicine. They worked in independent publishing for three years, and their art has been featured in over 20 books and four comics. Prior to the pandemic, River read tarot and drew tarot portraits at local events. Now they are sharing their love of tarot through zines and workshops. You can find more information on their website RKRISING.COM and their Instagram @katzriver.

Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. The middle core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to pay our teachers and provide staff, supplies, and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the top supporter price helps ensure we're able to offer a variety of classes and always keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.

There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
