Teacher bios: Zimmy Chu (they/them) is a butch Chinese-American artist from the Appalachian foothills. They’re a painter, a printer, an avid sketchbooker, a lover of walks, and a collector of rocks. Zimmy believes wholeheartedly that only expansive love leads to collective liberation- and that creativity builds our capacity to show up for ourselves and each other with care. They do their best to meet people where they’re at, and they can’t wait to get to know you!
Ruth Riley, from the Pueblo of Acoma is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator. Ruth’s own art making includes ideas about culture and language, and how these ideas play into a modern way of living. She explores ideas of pueblo life, cultural identity, and personal experience. Riley’s experience through addiction and mental health, and now active recovery serves as a catalyst to her work. Her passion is sharing her skill set and experience with others through building connections, and art making.
All materials provided. No experience necessary.
This class is only for teens ages 12-19.
Refund Policy: All of our classes have limited capacity and often sell out. Please let us know if you are unable to attend a class you’ve registered for so we can open up the spot for someone else. If you would like a refund for your class registration fee, you must let us know at least 48 hours ahead of the class start time. Cancellations received within 48 hours or less of class start times are not eligible for refunds, but your class fee can be transferred to a future class registration instead. If you have questions about your class registration, or to request a refund or class transfer, please call, email, or talk to staff in person at OffCenter during Open Studio hours.
Why are there multiple prices? All of our classes are offered at a sliding scale, with a free option available to anyone that requests it. When possible, we make the base option available in order to partly cover the cost of the class. The core price is the "true" cost of the class OffCenter needs to cover paying our teachers and providing supplies and materials. If you are able to support at a higher level, paying the supporter price helps ensure we're able to continue offering a variety of classes and keep free spaces open for anyone that needs.
There are a limited number of free spots available online. If these are sold out, please email, call, or drop by the studio to sign up! Email info@offcenterarts.org.
