Celestial Lantern Workshop

Illuminate the night sky. In this 2-session workshop you will learn how to make hand-held celestial lanterns from paper, recycled materials, and found objects; use affordable/low-tech battery lights; and mount your lantern on poles.

For inspiration, we will explore lantern parades from around the world. On December 5, during ABQ Artwalk you can exhibit your lanterns in a community lantern walk!

Day 1: Explore the world of lanterns, design your own lanterns, gather materials and start building.

Day 2: Finish building your lantern, add lights, and mount on hand-held poles etc.

All materials (including lights) will be provided. This workshop is sponsored by the City of Albuquerque Public Art Division and 2025 City Brights III.

Sundays, November 9 and 16, 2:30-5:30 pm

At OffCenter Community Arts Project, 808 Park Ave SW, ABQ.
